Crochet Oval Rug

First decide the finished size desired for your rug. Take the length minus the width plus 1 inch (L – W + 1in.) and crochet a chain this long. Work 2 single crochets in the 2nd chain from the hook and 1 single crochet in each chain to end. Work 3 single crochets in end of chain and 1 single crochet in each single crochet up the other side. Work 2 single crochet in 3 end stitches (6 in end 3) and 1 single crochet in each stitch up the other side. Continue increasing in both ends by working 2 single crochet in 1 stitch evenly around the end usually 2 or 3 times per end to allow rug to lay flat and 1 single crochet in each single crochet up each side until desired size is reached. Opt. 1 – put rug on floor and walk on as is, it will eventually felt.

Opt. 2 – Make rug about twice as big as you want and then throw it in a zipper case and wash in washing machine. Reshape and lay flat to dry. Fluff in dryer to remove any loose fibers.
